I missed most of this, since I was in Australia. But I have no words, except to say I read what you said about being neither too rich nor too proud to accept donations. I don't have much money, but I'd like to contribute what I can. Will a cheque in your name, sent to your home address, do the trick?
Marrus is fine. Her place is one of the few that was spared destruction. She is intermittently without power, and is still dependent on local restaurants for food (there are no supermarkets in the city). She has no internet connection at the moment. Emotionally, she's less good... but soldiering on.
Thank you. I've been saying this to everyone -- go. Send money. Send stuff. Find a way to help. It's a war zone down there. The emergency is not over. It hasn't even started to be over. Do something.
Send money as directly as possible. If I go back (which is a strong possibility), give it to me. They need bodies as much as supplies. Too much gets diverted by stupid politics, and many of the governemnt agencies are pulling out. Worse, many government agencies are working to shut down volunteer efforts.

You don't have to send your self down to do good works. Make some phone calls, load a truck up here, beat the bushes for other volunteers. Leave a canned good donation box in the store.
I never doubted your resourcefulness. But you were far from home, and the universe has shown herself to be capricious lately. I am pleased that she was not.
