You're intensely curious about the universe around you. You never stop asking "What if we did this instead?"

I could use this today.

You have an infectious smile. You grin with your whole spirit behind it.

Nah. Tell me why you hate me:)

Easy. You live too far away.

And here I was cringing in anticipation.

I only live far away for part of the year...

No ma'am. You always live far away – you just travel into my neck of the woods part of the year.

And I look forward to it.

Is that like "Get thee behind me?"

OK... but as long as I'm back here...

You look good in leopard print. :-P

She damned well better - I don't know if she OWNS anything else;)

She does. I only brainwashed her on this leopard print thing a few years ago and she still fits into clothes she wore in high school (and still owns many of them...)

that is actually kind of amazing. No nothing I have from high school still fits especially not my first formal dress that when the seamstress sewed up the top because I had no chest.

I'm in the same boat, but in my poor body's defense, I grew an inch in height and my ribcage added two inches in width after high school.

You must have been a pretty late bloomer. My impression (probably formed in some long-ago sex ed class) was that women finished develop by the time they were 18 or so. I've met a could of gals for whom that just wasn't so.

I will have you know that today I'm wearing a perfectly sober outfit of black skirt, grey sweater, and black stockings.

And leopard print shoes.

You're an excellent host – and you frequently expand your concept of 'home' to be a warm and welcoming presence to everyone around you.

Sure, but only because I channeled you recently.

Channeling me is enough of a reason for me to like you. When did that happen?

I like working with you as an actor. You have both skill and an interest in the craft of acting, two things which make you a lot of fun to collaborate with.

A mutual acquaintance was dithering about an overcoat because it didn't look/fit quite right. It was for an interview on Monday, frozen Monday. My immediate response was, "Jane, wear the damn coat!"

Somehow, your voice is the one that comes out when I need to apply a kindhearted slap to the back of the head.

It's nice to know that other people see them as 'kindhearted' too.

I assumed it was in a commedia show ;-)

No you don't. You know why -- but I'll tell you anyway.

There are a lot of people who pay lip service to Voltaire's (the first one) credo "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" but you actually believe it and, more importantly, do it.

That's a wonderful thing for you to say. Thank you.

And here I thought it was my legs.

Who says I like you? ;-)

The universe did you dirty in some select body parts, but you deal with it with a minimum of fuss – despite being raised in a community in which using one's health problems as both an excuse and conversational gambit are a common occurrence. Thank you for not turning into one of those people who are always complaining about their health problems. Thank you for being an example to anyone (including me) who has ever thought to let an obstacle stand in their way.

...and that's one of the things I like about you.

Bonus non-glib Answer: You took a passion and have made it into both a financial and critical success, even though you knew it was going to be a hard road.

Of course, this assumes that you like everyone who reads your journal. But I'm too intrigued to resist.

No, it assumes that I can find at least one thing I do like about everyone who reads my journal. Even Hitler was kind to small animals ;-)

And, I like that you are Grand High Master of the pilpul.

I have no idea, but it sounds like something from The Mask.

Your character is that of the young hero in the swashbuckling adventure. I love the fact that you're actually a good enough fencer to make fantasy a reality.

And I've always liked your eyes.
