1. My friends are musically illiterate – or shy. [livejournal.com profile] gyzki, [livejournal.com profile] jducouer, and I all posted the same "Here are the lyrics, guess the song" game. I got nearly no takers ;-) I suspect because I posted a almost 6 p.m. on a Friday and you lot don't read LJ over the weekend, do you. It's a wonder any of you still have jobs. I plan the economic mess on LJ and your lack of willpower.

2. The weather is supposed to get warmer over the next few days. It was 43F when I was making breakfast this morning. I like fall; I'm not ready for winter yet.

3. I think my neighbors are borrowing my WiFi, but I can't figure out how to password protect my network. I'm using a Belkin router and I've read TFM. Anyone want to point me in the right direction?

4. This deserves its own post, but... The Boston Babydoll show on Sat., 10/25 is going to be the best thing we've ever done. Yes, it's opposite Crown Tourney. Yes, it's at The Ioka in Exeter, NH, but it's worth the trip. I promise you. Betty's Loïe Fuller inspired piece is worth the trip alone, and we're unlikely to do it again anywhere soon.

i think you should help him set up a MAC filter.. and/or don't transmit SSID but that is just my opinion..

We did that -- and, in the process, seem to have broken my set-up ;-). Oh well; it's one way of making sure no one is stealing my wireless.

hmm sounds like you did not get all the right MAC addresses in... when i first set mine up i was dumb and the first address i pput in was not the computer i was on.. so i had to switch computers to finish the process..

I think we had some legacy issues and some "boy are we overengineered" issues.

I ended up burning the whole thing down and starting all over again. Took a little while, but I've got things working the way I want them too.

Are you going to be in Boston anytime soon? Do you want an excuse to be? I need to stick some heavy-duty mooring points into the ceiling of the studio. They're going to be used for aerial rigging, so I figured you'd be a good guy to ask...

If you and J wanted to come down on 10/26 (it's a Sunday) and bang around during the day, I'd happily comp you guys to the show that night. Or even comp you guys to the one in Exeter, NH the night before which is going to be even better...

We seem to have broken the internet ;-)

I can get on-line by plugging a computer directly into the cable modem. [livejournal.com profile] mermaidlady is gonna be cranky when she gets home; I'm pointing her at you. ;-)

I figured it out, where "figured it out" equals "I hooked the desktop machine directly to the internet, downloaded configuration software, re-configured the wireless router from scratch, and then plugged in the password protection". Everything seems fine now, and I've gotten the LinkSys out of the loop.

ugh. but it works now.

sorry it didn't go easier before...

No worries. There were a bunch of legacy issues we didn't know about going into it -- and you were right, I clearly don't need the LinkSys in the mess. So not only do I now have password protection on the local network, I also simplified my set-up. Always a win.

Somehow I read your music post as "don't bother guessing, the answers are all on Google anyway". But then, my reading ability is always suspect!

That being said, someone else has already guessed the ones I know.

Must be me. Justin and Kali both used the exact same verbiage (since we were all quoting each other) and all garnered a large number of guesses.

Yes and no -- if you check mine, I echoed the original verbiage, but then explicitly invited people to play anyway. I suspect that made some difference.

I didn't respond to yours largely because, as usual, I was running way behind on LJ, and you'd already filled in several of the answers by the time I got to it. I was in a rush, and didn't notice that most of them *weren't* answered.

(Besides which, while I find the game fun, I am *terrible* at it: it's all about associative memory, and mine is wretched. Taking a glance back at it, I only get four of them, and they're all pretty obvious ones...)

Oh, you wanted guesses/answers to that?! It didn't seem so, from your intro. I've gone back and answered the ones I know.

If it's any consolation, I didn't reply to theirs (well, Justin's - I didn't know any on Kali's that hadn't already been guessed) until after I did yours.

I cop to illiteracy in my case (well, I took a stab at a couple of them), but yeah, 6 p.m. on a Friday usually gets little to no response on things like this.
