HUGE news from Boston Babydoll Land (or is that 'Boston Babydollywood'? I always forget...):

We are now the proud proprietors of THE BOSTON BABYDOLL STUDIO – a gorgeous, multi-room dance studio, practice, and recital space in North Quincy. We need your help getting the space up and running. If you want to swing a hammer or paint a wall, please let us know!

The studio is easy to reach. It's less than 2 miles from I-93 and less than a two minute walk from the nearest T stop (North Quincy), and there's plenty of free parking. The address is 37 Billings Road, N. Quincy, MA 02171

We'll be using the studio for rehearsals, our own classes, and the occasional dance recital, but it's also available for rent by the hour.

Studio A: is the biggest space, with a hardwood dancefloor and a huge mirrored wall.

Studio B: is a smaller space, great for more intimate classes or private lessons.

Studio C: is a basement-level, insulation rehearsal space with lower ceilings (~ 7'), great for musical rehearsals.

The Make-Up Studio: is a small, well-lit room off of Studio C, ideal for getting ready for a recital or classes in hair, make-up, or aesthetics.

All studios should be available after October 1, and some space may be available prior to that. If you're interested in information on a one-time rental or an ongoing, scheduled rental, please contact us.

I know that -- we have a bunch of new classes coming up! Plus some stuff that's not being taught by us, just at our studio.

True enough... I hope soon I will feel well enough to go to classes of any kind again.

I hear that. Just keep plugging -- you can't do anything else. We're rooting for you!

I can swing a hammer.

My lungs are currently complaining, however, making exertion less fun. What kind of time frame are you thinking?

Thanks for the offer. We want to have as much as possible done by 10/3. Of course, all of my weekends (except this one) between now and then are booked...

Luckily for you, I'm unemployed and available mid-week. Next Weds, Thurs, Fri, one of those, perhaps?

Sounds great. We'll talk closer to the day. Do you have any l33t construction skillz I should know about? Can you play with electricity comfortably?

Date: 2008-09-04 11:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] metahacker.livejournal.com
I am not an electrician. However, I have swapped out switches and fixtures, rewired outlets, and replaced circuit breakers around a house that has so far failed to burn down. Just remind me that white is ground around here and we'll be good.

I can do stuff with wood. I've made furniture from scratch. I have caulked, tiled, painted, stained, depainted, sanded, and sealed.

I can use most power tools, without injury, even. Same goes for hand tools.

I have a LOT of book learnin' (mostly TV learnin') on construction. While this doesn't necessarily translate to actually doing it, so far, it has, for the projects I've attempted. In general I learn fast, so if you know how to do it, show me a few times.

However, I am No Good at plaster -- but that may be a lack of practice.

There won't be any plastering -- or very little, and it'll mostly be done by the time you arrive.

I think I'll save the electrical for you. It's all basic stuff.

Thanks again!

Schedule?

Well, going forward I can lend a hand on the door or something from time to time if needed. After all, it's in my neighbourhood.

Hammer-swinging and wall-painting are some of my favorite activities. Count me in.

(For the record, I prefer Boston Babydoll Land.)
