Saw and enjoyed Iron Man a lot. Very much the best of the Marvel superhero movies. If you read the comic (or Marvel comics at all) you'll get an extra layer of kick out of the movie — lots of nice references. The three people I saw it with vary from moderately comic savvy but not an Iron Man reader to not a comic book reader at all, and all of us enjoyed it.

Oh yeah -- and stay all the way to the end. Especially if you're a comic fan.

JARVIS was voiced by Paul Bettany.

Yeah, we liked it a lot too! (Though I liked Spider-man a lot too, and wouldn't necessarily rank Iron Man _higher_, per se.)

I thought about it and decided I would. Spiderman was a good flick and good homage to the comic, but lacked the sense of humour and subtle inside references that Iron Man had. Also, I like Robert Downey Jr. better as Tony Stark than I liked Toby Maguire as Parker.

Yeah, loved the teaser... we didn't see that coming.

Bess and I enjoyed it a lot. We had time before the movie, so I explained some of the comic's history so she could appreciate some of Rhodes' lines and character in a larger context. I had to explain the teaser afterwards, though.

Now that CGI is so standard, it is good to see films focusing on basics like character and plot again. This was a great character-driven film and Robert Downey Jr. was perfect casting.

There were just so many little things that had wonderful shades of nuance... like Rhodes looking at the spare armor and saying "Next time...". It worked, even if you had no idea of his story in the comics.

As long as I've got your attention, are you willing to be Costello to my Abbot on June 18? We've got about a month. Just let me know one way or the other.
