Since she won't tell you...
Feb. 11th, 2009 09:51 amLast night after the preview/open tech rehearsal of Unlucky in Love (which went more smoothly than any tech rehearsal had a right to) we had a Q&A session with the audience (some of whom were press).
At one point a woman who was clearly there with her elderly dad asked "If a person didn't have e-mail or access to the internet, how would they find out your schedule? Because he just loved your show and..." at which point the old fellow stood up (wearing his new Boston Babydoll T-shirt over his dress shirt) and said in a wavering but clear voice, "I saw Sally Rand do a fan dance. And Miss Mina, you're better than she was".
We were all a little thunderstruck. And I thought Mina might cry... but she didn't.
The show is damn good -- and different from a lot of what we've done before on many levels. It's more polished in some ways; we've got more snazzy tech happening. But core of it — the excellent dancing and performances — is the same. Come see it.
