Hey Kids! Burlesque!
Mar. 12th, 2008 02:24 amI haven't been posting here a lot, mostly because I've been up to my elbows in The Great Boston Burlesque Expo, which is coming up March 21-23 at The Hyatt Regency in Cambridge (the "Arisia" hotel).
You should come to this event. If you're any kind of fan of burlesque, or any type of performer, you should come.
The Conference portion of the Expo is amazing. I don't say that because
betty_blaize is amazing (she is; The Conference is 99% her work) -- I say it because the talented teachers we've got coming are amazing. The classes are great for anyone who ever sets foot on or behind a stage or who wants to -- dancers, actors, musicians, comedians, magicians, producers, marketers ... whatever you do, you can learn to do it better here.
There are classes on stage craft and marketing, on producing shows and on making costumes, on stage combat, on movement, and on what it means to be "professional". We have classes from burlesque legends like Satan's Angel, classes from master costumer Rae Bradbury-Enslin, and classes from Joe Paul Williams, the world expert in the Delsarte body language system.
You can attend one day of classes for $45 or both for $75. I've seen events where you'd pay $45 for an hour of training... but these people are coming up to teach for the love of their art. If you love your art and do it professionally (or want to), please come take these classes. You'll be amazed at the quality of the teachers -- and the students -- that this event draws.
Tickets are on sale now. Head over to www.Burlesque-Expo.com and click "Buy Tickets" in the main menu.
Thanks for listening -- see you there!
